Annie was the first female presenter on BBC Radio 1 in 1970 and the first female presenter on The Old Grey Whistle Test on BBC TV.
She was born on April Fools day (1st April) in Osterley, west London and started her journalism career in Brighton.
In the 60's she work on various TV projects which eventually landed her the role of the main presenter on The Old Grey Whistle Test, where she remained for 4 years.
In 1970, after a few stints on some radio shows, where was given a trial run on Radio 1. After the trial she did several stints on shows but mainly on her Sunday afternoon show.

Annie published two autobiographical books and also a memoir in 2020 called 'Hey Hi Hello'.
She received several awards in recognition of her work in radio and TV. She also received both an MBE and a CBE in 2020, the only Radio 1 presenter to be awarded this honour.
Annie was married twice and had two children.
